My hangry levels started to rise around 3pm after several long hard hours of shopping in the city with Mum. We were right on George street and were craving a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino so we thought why not stop for some casual late lunch while we are here. After having to ask two or three shop assistants where exactly the foodcourt was in the maze that is the QVB we finally found the promise land that is the Level 1 food court.
I had no idea what I was craving this day, and did one lap of the food court which seemed to take just as long as one in the Bathurst 1000. I'm one of those people that goes by the rule that if the place has lots of people there, they must be onto something (hence why there is always a massive lineup at McDonalds full of people waiting for $1 coke iceys or "frokes" as the kids like to call them these days..). We finally stopped at the Hokka Hokka Oriental Kitchen which was packed full of people sitting at tables "Just for One" so we knew it must be good. The HHOK has a hot food bar and a fresh noodle bar and have recipes which are based upon mixtures of different Asian influences and therefore cater for a wide variety of all my favourite asian foods such as Dumplings, honey chicken, spring rolls and laksa.
I always love a good Laksa, so decided I'd give the Chicken and Wonton laksa a try. A majority of the tables of loners were slurping from their bowls of soup so I thought if they come here for their Sunday lunch it must be something worth having. The lady serving placed my noodles and vegetables in a bowl in front of my eyes and passed it back to the kitchen. A few short minutes later she called out my number and I eagerly ran up to the counter to grab my delicious Laksa.

I'm always either pleasantly surprised or very disappointed with Laksas as I find they can tend to be very watery and don't pack a flavour punch leaving me with absolutely limp feelings as an aftertaste. This however did not disappoint. It had a strong robust taste and was full to the brim of dumplings, chicken, noodles and all the other amazing things that make a Laksa what it is. It wasn't overly spicy, but none the less, I was left using the serviette to wipe the snot running out of my nose and cleaning my glasses from all the soup backsplash from my slurping. I was pretty happy with it and ended up scooping up every single last spoonful of soup I could. Another great thing is that you can also get takeaway if you want to grab a quick meal and run home to continue the House of Cards marathon thats been eating up all of my time. Would definitely go back after a hard day of shopping to build my levels back up from hangry to happy.
